I’m really starting to dislike almost anything zombie related (except Død snø which i did enjoy). Most of it is a rehashing of the classics and since they are rather popular producers and directors seem to make them pop up about everywhere. Even in Saint’s Row 3. It’s also one of the reason i haven’t watched The Walking Dead yet, despite raving reviews and friends bugging me about seeing it, i just can’t be bothered with watching it.
Anyway, last night i was watching part of the International and Zombieland came after it. Knew it had Woody Harrelson, Emma Stone and Jesse Eisenberg (the guy from the Social Network) in it so decided to stay and watch. Something i didn’t regret as Zombieland is actually a pretty funny movie.

Eisenberg is one of the few survivors of a zombie apocalypse, he’s nerdy, socially awkward and has set a bunch of rules for himself to survive (always check the back seat, don’t use public restrooms, always double tap etc.). On his way to Columbus, Ohio to see if his parents are still alive he meets Harrelson, a trigger happy bad ass, who is on a quest to find a Twinkie. They meet up with two sisters who are on their way to an amusement park because they heard it was one of the last zombie free places.

The zombies are your usual run of the mill walking dead but the main characters really make this movie with either funny one liners (Harrelson), funny in behaviour (Eisenberg) or tough but cute (Emma Stone). And there is one of the most brilliant cameo’s i’ve seen in a while. Not going to spoil it, but in my opinion it was brilliant.
The storyline isn’t very special, but the action, the humour and the characters make up for that quite a bit. Fans of zombie movies should watch this, and even people that aren’t won’t be too dissapointed in this movie.
